This piece is a study of one of the most fascinating Australian native bees. The Red-eyed Resin Bees, or golden brown resin bees get their name because they build their residences out of a mix of resin and leaf chewed material. They range in size from about 8 to 14 mm, and coloured red, orange or black. These attractive bees are found Australia-wide and  are a common occurrence in backyards so keep your eyes open and look for them.
