This piece is a study of one of the most striking Australian native bees. Australia  currently has 56 species of Lipotriches, in the particular case of Lipotriches Australica they dig nest burrows in the ground, up to three females may use the same nest and take turns guarding the entrance.

Lipotriches bees can be identified by their light coloured hair bands across their abdomen.
